“ We rolled up on a Saturday, took one look at the parking situation, and almost bailed. I was sure the were going to be a huge wait, the cars were everywhere. It was Mad Max: Fury Road out there. But in a plot twist, I ducked inside to check the wait and, surprise, there wasn't one. Just a parking lot that operates on pure anarchy. But inside was not crazy busy at around 10am. The place itself is cute, the design has beach elements, it's bright, nice specials board and a bar. It did get much busier as we had our meal so arrive early. The menu? Huge. They even have early bird specials, which is great if you have your life together enough to brunch at a responsible hour. My only wish? A classic, no-frills eggs-toast-meat option for those of us who sometimes just want the breakfast greatest hits. Food-wise, it was a home run. Generous portions, solid flavors. The breakfast cocktails? Equally robust. I went for a sorbet mimosa, which is a risky game as some places go full dessert mode and forget the champagne. Not here. The ratio? Chef's kiss. My brunch company had a burrito (solid) and we even sampled a kid's meal (also solid). One hiccup: As the place filled up, service slowed, and my brunch companion tragically never got a refill. This is how brunch heartbreak happens, people. No refill = unfinished meal = existential crisis. But all in all? A worthy brunch adventure. Just maybe take an Uber and let someone else battle the parking gauntlet. ”

“ We came in early on a Saturday while in town and they were able to immediately seat us even though we were a group of 8. They were super attentive and the food came out quickly. I had the Salmon Bennie and it was great. I got cheese grits since I'm not often in the South and they were really tasty! My husband had the fried chicken Bennie with home fries. My daughter and nephew split the pancakes with chocolate chips and strawberries. They were huge! (They split one order). Only complaint I heard was the bacon was slightly undercooked. But overall everything was great and would definitely recommend if in the area! ”

“ If you haven't read my Yelp reviews, I find restaurants that reminds me of home. I found my Ms. Shirley's Cafe in Baltimore. The Bay Local eatery is now my new Miss Shirley's Cafe. The staff is attentive, service was wonderful, and the cuisine was delicious. I had the Cold Salmon Beanies, Grits and a jumbo Mimosa. The Beanies was delicious..a take of Lox Bagel with poach egg on top with a delicious hollandaise sauce prepared to perfection. The hollandaise sauce was not cold ..bonus!! If you are thinking of a place for brunch.. the Bay Local Eatery is a thought and a must to have Brunch. Bon Appétit.. This Gourmand will be back..Sidebar: The only downfall was parking. ”

“ The Big Al is really good, fresh gravy and a flaky biscuit. Inside is vibrant but not too loud, great spot to hit brunch with friends. They have boozy brunch cocktails, and really good Benedict's. Service was great, while it was still crowded, our server never made us feel forgotten and abandoned. Will definitely be back here. ”

“ Somehow this was my 1st time here and I loved it! We showed up at a perfect time on a Sunday morning and we were sat right away. It quickly filled up. It's not a quiet place for brunch. They play good music and it is loud. I loved it but if that is not for you then I would pick a different place. The service was excellent! I wish I got our servers name but I did not. We ordered the lettuce wraps with shrimp. We did share and they were delicious! Everything about it was perfect.....except...I wish they had put on a 4th piece of lettuce since 2 of us were sharing. It would not have cost much and would have been that extra touch that goes a long way. No extra shrimp or anything else....just lettuce for a 4th wrap. We weren't going to get anything else but then we saw the mac and cheese and had to get some. Holy cheese! They did not skimp. It was the perfect amount for a side and very very very cheesy. Delicious. They had great specials and lots of choices on the menu. It was tough to decide. Be warned that they do add 18% gratuity even for small parties of 2. We did not care because our service was so good and even added a few more dollars in cash but it could go the other way and be frustrating. I will be back and definitely recommend. ”

“ Let's just say I'll definitely be back, I feel like the choices are endless. It was so hard to pick what I wanted! So everyone got something different. Chicken and waffles were great, seasoned crispy chicken, fluffy eggs, and the waffle had a nice hint of vanilla to it. My wife got the veggie eggs Benedict and added crispy chicken to it with the breakfast potatoes. Do not sleep on the breakfast potatoes!! So much flavor in everything. I tried my brother's oyster Rockefeller burger, and wow I'm going back to get that! The burger itself was so good, they actually char grill the burger and cook it perfectly to your liking. Parmesan, spinach, fried oysters and bacon on top of that! How could it miss?! The calamari was tender, flavorful, they fry jalapeños and banana peppers with the calamari. It's like they said hey I know this going to be good but let's take it to the next level. The staff is so friendly, and attentive to everything going on. There's this beautifully decorated room with a bar and couches you can hang out in while waiting to be seated. There are waitresses there who will take orders for drinks and apps while you wait! Yes, parking isn't the best but it also didn't take long for us to get a good parking spot. Trust me it's worth it! Pictures aren't the best but you'll get the idea lol ”

“ Visited Bay Local on Saturday around 11:30. There was barely a wait--always a great start! As a Virginia Beach staple, it never disappoints. The food was delicious as always; the Bay Local Rockefeller was top-tier, with the fried oysters cooked to perfection. The tater tots were a great side as well. One suggestion: a mimosa flight would be a fun addition to their drink menu. Overall, another fantastic visit! No complaints from me. ”

Crab Benedict (5/5 stars, $17) w English muffin and home fries was filling and flavorful. Wife had $3.50 pineapple mimosa and shrimp n grits (5/5 stars, $17). Gratuity is included on all orders. Parking is tight, especially while renovations are happening during the day. Holiday bogo gift card deal is fabulous, just needs to be in $25 increments. ”
